Flat Stanley ends up in Southern California

Wow!! Here I am in California again, and only 70 miles from where Agatha sent me on my journey last September.

Boy, what a journey! The Hynes sent me to Royal City, WA where G-gpa Lee lives, but he and Nana Carol were on a trip and the post office sent me to their forwarding address in Sioux. Falls, SD. They weren’t there either so I was sent on to another forward address in Southern California. Gee, because being flat and folded up into an envelope, I couldn’t see where I was traveling, but I was certainly on a bunch of airplanes and trucks! I’ll bet I traveled nearly 8000 miles getting to San Clemente, CA from England.

Yesterday Lee & Nana Carol took me to the Pacific Ocean for a while and I have enjoyed living in their motor home for the past several days. G-gpa Lee is helping me write about my time here and I’m with him now as he composes while awaiting completion of mechanical service to his Subaru.

I hope that my adventures and pictures since leaving Aggieland are posted to my blog soon. That’s the only way I can tell my hosts where I’ve been, what I’ve done and seen and how much fun I’ve had since Agatha sent me out into the world.

Flat Stanley goes to the UK

Hi Agatha, I hope you are well. I have attached a picture of me with Flat Stanley as requested.

Flat Stanley arrived in London to stay with me for a couple of weeks at the end of January 2009. I live in a suburb of London called Harrow and I work at a place called Harrow Council, which is a Local Government office. Flat Stanley accompanied me to my office a couple of times where I showed him my desk and introduced him to my colleagues who were happy to show him around. Then on the 2nd February London experienced a huge downfall of snow, the biggest snowfall London has seen in 18 years and Flat Stanley had lots of fun with me whilst my sister and I made a snowman in the back garden!

Once the snow melted I was able to take Flat Stanley on the tube to Oxford Street where we went shopping and had lunch. We also took in some of the sights of London on a red London bus including the London Eye and Big Ben. We walked past Buckingham Palace to see the Queen, however she was not in at the time so we waved to her guards outside instead.

I hope Stanley enjoyed his time with me in London.

Flat Stanley goes to South Carolina and Atlantis

Flat Stanley got to spend New Year's 09 with the Irwin's in the Carolinas.

After that, he headed down to the Bahamas to the Atlantis resort. He has been flying all over the country so this was a nice break for him.

Flat Stanley in Dimmitt, TX

After visiting Aggieland in College Station, TX, Stanley traveled to Dimmitt, TX. Dimmitt is different than College Station. It is much smaller and surrounded by a lot more countryside. Here the wind blows a lot and one day it was blowing pretty hard! Stanley thought it would be fun to fly, so Uncle Gregg held his hand and watched as the wind caught Stanley and took him up!

He had a lot of fun! Later he went out to the animals with Ben and Clayton.

They have three lambs, one goat, and a pig to show in stockshows.

After that Stanley went with Uncle Gregg to feed the cattle down at the feedlot. The next morning he went and checked the irrigation sprinklers with Uncle Gregg.

Now Stanley is off to visit more family in South Carolina.

Flat Stanley Visted Aggieland

Aggieland is located in College Station, TX and is the home of the Texas A&M Aggies. Stanley had a great time visiting this new town, learning about the Texas A&M traditions, and hearing the funny sounding Texas accent. He is now headed off to see more family in Texas, but first let me tell you about his experiences here in Aggieland. Stanley got to visit me one day at work and saw Miramont Country Club, one of the top 10 country clubs in Texas! He thought everything was so beautiful, but didn't want to touch anything and possibly break it because it's all so authentic and imported from Europe. He even would have gone swimming in their pool, but the weather was a bit too cold. Stanley enjoyed dinner cooked by Chef Jacques Fox, one of the top French Chef's around. Stanley didn't spend much time here though because I had to work so hard, and didn't have much time to entertain him. While Stanley was in town, he spent a couple of days with me on the Texas A&M campus and learned about all of the traditions the school has. He experienced the most friendly college campus, because everyone says "Howdy" to each other as they pass by, even if they don't know you. We always try to make people feel welcome in Aggieland. Stanley also learned about the 12th Man Tradition. This was started a long time ago at a football game. Many of the football players were getting injured in this particular game, so they didn't have enough members to make up a whole team. A student in the stands volunteered to suit up to help out his team. This has developed into a long standing tradition know as the 12th Man. This symbolizes the idea that the student body will do anything they can to support their athletic teams and their school! Lastly, while Stanley was here, I showed him around town a bit. He noticed that everything has the name "Aggieland" and thought it may have been named after his friend Agatha. I told him that was a good thought, but really it's named after the Texas A&M students. A&M used to be an Agriculture school, so "Aggie" is short for Agriculture. And that's where we get our name from. Nonetheless, he liked the idea that the town had the same name as his friend, so he made sure I took some pictures of the Aggieland signs. Stanley is now traveling to Dimmitt, TX to see my Aunt, Uncle, and cousins up in the Panhandle of Texas. I hope he enjoyed his stay here in Aggieland!

The Last Day with Flat Stanley

Today I went to Kaylee's party at The Little Gym in Riverside. This is is Flat Stanley and Kaylee and me. He is sitting down with me by the high beam. We played and danced like crazy girls with him. On Monday I am going to send him out into the world in a envelope. I am sending him to Texas first. Howdy, partner!

We read the book "Flat Stanley" for Homeschool and decided to make a Stanley of our own to send out to the world. We created a blog and an email address so people can send us pictures of Stanley's adventures. I can't wait to see where Stanley ends up.
